In addition to the many golfing events throughout the calendar year Manor Park Golf Sanctuary has an enviable reputation for being friendly and welcoming, and will do all we can to ensure you’re visit with us is enjoyable and memorable, and we cater for golfers of all genders, ages and abilities.

The Club has a range of competitive golfing events that will challenge most players, from the golf shop scrambles at the weekends to the more serious trophy events for both Men and Women, as well as the Club being extensively represented by both genders in inter-club competitions at various grades.

Interclub - The Club currently has 6 Mens, and 3 Womens interclub teams playing in the Wellington Golf District. In the Mens we are represented in Divisions 1, 3, 6, 7, 11, 12, and for Women there’s the 18 and 9 Holes leagues. Most of the Mens interclub games are played ‘off the stick’ (no handicaps) and generally involve Foursomes and a MatchPlay singles. Handicaps are set at a maximum of up to 21 for Men and 30 for Women so there are teams at all levels playing ability. There are also Junior Pennants teams for those under the age of 19, and are of mixed gender.

Trophy Events - In addition to the Club Championships there are a number of trophy events staged throughout the calendar year for both Men and Women, as well as Mixed Events. There are Gross, Nett and Stableford events for individuals as well as pairs events events for both 18 Hole and 9 Holes members. More details of these can be found in the Clubs Calendar of Events.

Annual Shootout - One the major highlights of the golfing year is the Annual Shootout. It is open to all Full Playing members and qualifying for the final of the year long tournament starts at the end of January. Players qualify by entering into the Stableford competitions held on weekends and public holidays, you can enter as many times as you like, but only your best 8 score aggregate will be used to rank your position. The initial cost of entry into the event is $10, and thereafter it’s $2 for every time you compete. Then in late November the top 11 players play-off over 10 holes, one player is eliminated at each hole until we have 2 players in a head-to-head on the final hole to determine the overall winner. Everyone of the 11 qualifiers receives a cash prize with the winner taking approximately 30% of the prize pool. This event is not just for the low handicapper, it’s for all members who enjoy an incentive.

Scrambles - At the weekend the Golf Shop runs both a Stableford scramble and 2’s competition, for a small fee members may enter either or both of these competitions with cash prizes paid out weekly.

Social Golf - Manor park is also well known for its ;Social golf groups’, these meet during the week (Tuesday to Thursday) in a friendly atmosphere and operate a ‘disc-draw’ to determine playing partners/groups, and these social events are for the most part open to visitors and guests, details as follows:

  • Tuesday - Senior Mid Week and Taxi Club
  • Wednesday - Women 18 and 9 hole
  • Thursday - Senior Mid Week and Thursday Club

The Golf Committee also run popular social events from time to time, with just a touch of competition, where a round of golf is followed by a BBQ or some other social activity. These events include the Muirfield Trophy, an annual competition on ANZAC Day between Manor Park and Muirfield GC in Sydney, or during the summer months we have Twilight Golf on Friday afternoons, followed by prize giving and a meal.
